Energy deregulation has seen a massive change in the scope of the energy industry. No longer are individuals and businesses tied to the use of a single, geographically determined supplier but are instead free to choose and change supplier almost at will. As well as meaning a massive change for the consumer, deregulation has also meant changes for the industry itself as well as the companies and organizations that operate within it – not least, the energy suppliers who now face the new challenge of marketing their own service to better informed and better educated consumers looking to save money and enjoy greater benefits from their energy supply.

Stream Energy, as the company was called, very quickly became one of the world’s leading businesses with a revenue of more than $1bn per annum – an achievement which may have only taken Stream Energy four years but took companies like Google 6 years and Walmart 17 years to reach these lofty heights of performance.
